160 of you shared your experience with us in August, including 104 complaints and 56 compliments about health and social care services.

The most common service was General Practice (GPs) which were mentioned 56 times, followed by Dentistry 16 times and then 3rd place with 11 mentions is Pharmacy.

Services people talked about most

  • You mentioned GPs 56 times, with 11 mentions of "quality of treatment", 6 mentions of "booking appointments" and 7 mentions of "Caring, kindness, respect, and dignity"

" GP somewhat dismissive and condescending regarding fungal toe infection. He considered me to be reporting a vanity issue, rather than the serious diabetic complications. I HAD to request a full blood test. He didn't truly listen."

" Practice was amazing, very quick to respond to my e-consult. Supportive and clear telephone call on the same day for an ongoing problem. Was then offered to go in to see a doctor who was so caring and explained everything. Please send thanks onto the practice"

Keep your eye out for the results of our GP survey following changes to the GP contact. We will be publishing the report soon.

  • You mentioned Dentistry 16 times, with the main theme being "access to services". The feedback about Dentistry came from workshops hosted by Action Hampshire.

"I moved from Gloucestershire to Eastleigh over 6 years ago and tried to find a local dentist. It took 6 years to find an NHS dentist. They [the practice mentioned] obviously prefer to have 'private' patients. I do not find them really interested in NHS patients - in fact I definitely feel like a 'second class' patient."

"Waiting time to get dental appointment for kids is spanning over a year - almost a year from June 2025"

If you are struggling to find an NHS dentist, we recommend going on the NHS website to search for practices providing NHS dental care. Sometimes they are not updated correctly, and it can be a long process of calling different practices, but is still the best way to go about it. If you need urgent treatment, call 111.

  • You mentioned Pharmacy was 11 times, with the main theme being "medication, prescription, dispensing". Again, most of these responses were recorded by Action Hampshire in their workshops.

"I required a repeat subscription which was approved after I attended my GP and had an assessment. Usually these are sent through to the Pharmacy for the next day so I went to collect my medicine. The pharmacist was someone I had not seen before (I did not get their name) and they were unable to find my medicine. They were quite rude and told me to go back to my GP. The receptionist confirmed my prescription had been sent through and showed me on their system. When I returned my medicine was ready, but they did not apologise for the hassle or rudeness."

What happens next

We will use this feedback to help improve services by:

  • sharing what we have heard with relevant providers and system partners

  • highlighting examples of good practice

  • continuing to explore issues affecting access to General Practice, including through our ongoing GP survey work with neighbouring local Healthwatch teams

  • publishing clear public summaries so local people can see how their feedback is being used
