A young carer is a person under the age of 18 years who provides care for another person. This is most commonly a parent or brother or sister, with an illness or disability, mental health problem or addiction to alcohol or drugs.



There are many young people in Hampshire helping to care for family members and there are specific resources and support aimed at young carers in the County. The council has a website section dedicated to young carers.


The Hampshire Young Carers Alliance brings together all the young carer support groups across the county and provides lots of useful information. There is also national support from
